Greg Bordes

Greg Bordes returns to the Sun Devil baseball program as a graduate manager in 2009. Greg will assist with everyday activities of the baseball office after finishing his professional baseball career at the AA level for the Arizona Diamondbacks. Bordes was a three-year letterwinner for the Sun Devils and was a member of two College World Series teams (2005, 2007) and two Pac-10 Championship squads (2007 and 2008).

2008 (Junior): Appeared in 44 games, starting 21...batted .304 (28-92) with 21 RBI...was named to the All-Tempe Regional team after starting all three games at shortstop and collecting five RBI and scoring three runs...signed with the Arizona Diamondbacks following the season.
2007 (RS-Sophomore): Appeared in 16 games, making one start.
2006 (Sophomore): Utilized his redshirt season.
2005 (Freshman): Played in 12 games and made two starts (both at second base)... hit .200 (1-for-5) with a double... only hit was a double against Western Illinois (3/13)... made a diving stop against Ohio State (3/6) that saved two runs and helped lead ASU to a 3-0 victory... played summer baseball for the Rochester Honkers in the Northwoods League... hit .234 (15-for-64) in 17 games with one double and 17 RBI.

Personal: BIS major with a focus on business and education... full name is Gregory Michael Bordes... parents are Charles and Jeannie Bordes of Mesa, Ariz... is one of six children, with three sisters and two brothers: Danielle, Lindsay, Kaylee, Brett and Charlie... Brett is a former Sun Devils pitcher now in the Baltimore Orioles farm system... his father, Charlie, played professionally with the Texas Rangers, reaching as high as the Triple-A level... also played in college at Southwestern Louisiana (currently Louisiana Lafayette) and was voted into the school's athletic hall of fame in 1998 with former major league pitcher Ron Guidry... his grandfather Bill Cutler is a former president of the Triple-A Pacific Coast League... an uncle, Jack Heidemann, played six years of professional baseball with the Brewers and Indians.. favorite MLB team is the Anaheim Angels...favorite athlete is Reggie Bush of the New Orleans Saints... enjoys playing golf... nickname is Deke... born June 3, 1985 in New Orleans, La.

A brand-new playing surface was installed in ASU's home ballpark just prior to the 2003 season.
